Time of healing

The Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network will sponsor a Service of Healing and Hope in response to last week's difficult times, which included the loss of a Tamaqua woman in a reported homicide, the deaths of a husband and wife in an accident.The ecumenical healing service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 223 E. D.A.R.E. Steering Committee is busy making plans for the annual

D.A.R.E. Challenge and graduation. The challenge will be held March 1 in the Tamaqua Elementary School gym. There will be two sessions, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.Volunteers will be needed for the event, as well as for set up and clean up.The gym will be set up from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, and at 8:30 a.m. that Saturday. Clean up will be done after the challenge, from 4 to 6 p.m.D.A.R.E. graduation is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 10 in the Tamaqua Middle School Auditorium.Donations to help defray the cost may be sent in care of Olga Williams, 209 Brown St., Tamaqua, PA 18252.Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional service this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. A contemporary service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Tamaqua YMCA, including nursery and primary church. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, a new, six week Bible study session, led by Andrew Gerber, will be held at 6:30 p.m.An hour of praise and prayer will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.Zion's Stone ChurchThe Rev. Michael Frost will officiate at the 9 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion's Stone Church in West Penn Township. Sunday school classes are held at 10 a.m.A Bible study session is held from 10:30 a.m. to noon every Thursday.A Valentine's Day Dance will be held this Saturday, from 7 to 11 p.m. Child care will be provided.
