Carbon Co. planners approve 4 subdivisions

Carbon County planners gave the green light on four subdivision/lot line revision proposals in the county.

During the monthly meeting of the county planning commission, the board addressed four proposals throughout the county. They included:• Blue Heron Homeowner's Association received conditional plan approval for its proposed subdivision at Big Boulder Drive and Lake Harmony Road in Kidder Township. The plan, which came before the board this past August and received conditional plan rejection until a number of issues were addressed, calls for subdividing a 42.5-acre plot.Ivan O. Meixell Jr., county planner, explained the new 3.268-acre lot that the association wants to create, would be used for a welcome center. He said that after review, the commission believes "the plan, as submitted lacks final plan requirements of the Kidder Township Land Development Ordinance" including the lot would not meet the 50-acre minimum lot size requirement so a zoning variance will be required. He then recommended the commission give conditional plan approval.• Michael T. and Colleen Ann Kochik received plan approval for their proposed land development at 721 Hemlock St., Franklin Township. The plan calls for constructing a 28-foot by 26-foot "granny flat" dwelling addition to an existing structure.• John P. Figura, Judith Pope and Ralph W. and Margaret C. Clay, received plan approval for their subdivision plans at 3 Dew Drop Drive, Jim Thorpe. The plan calls for lot line revisions between the neighbors' properties.• Ned Biege, owner of Palmerton Garage Doors, received plan approval for his proposed land development at the Palmerton Garage Doors storage complex, located along Stoney Ridge Road, Lower Towamensing Township. The plans call for the construction of a 10,000-square-foot storage building.
