Toppled tree closes road

Ash Circle Road in West Penn Township was closed Thursday afternoon after a tree fell across numerous utility lines and the roadway. The incident began at 1:15 p.m. when it was reported of a tree down across the roadway in front of 183 Ash Circle Road. When West Penn Police Chief Brian Johnson and members of the West Penn Fire Company No. 1 arrived on scene they found numerous utility lines including live PPL Electric Utilities wires brought down by the tree. First responders decided to wait for PPL utility crews to arrive to deal with the power lines before starting to remove the tree. The site of the incident is about a quarter mile south of SR895.
