Blaise Schweibinz, a resident at the Village at Palmerton, celebrated his 86th birthday on Sept. 24.

He was born and raised in Lehighton but, if asked, he'll gladly tell you he found the best wife ever in Palmerton.

He and his late wife Evangeline raised two sons Terry and Larry.

Blaise served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ranger. Afterward, he worked at Air Products as a machinist until retirement.

Later, to keep busy, he worked part-time for Rentschler Auto Parts.

He still attends his home church at Trinity Lutheran in Bowmanstown and has been a choir member there for many years.

At 86, Blaise likes to keep busy. He keeps active at The Village at Palmerton by attending exercise three times a week, participating in Wii bowling, and by playing board games and cards with the other residents and family members.

He also likes to sit and chat with the other residents in the living room, and to enjoy life as it comes.
