Polk Twp. Historical Society buys copper kettle

President Norman Burger said, at the Nov. 5 meeting that a copper kettle such as those used to cook apple butter was purchased by the Polk Township Historical Society for $450.

It had been shown at the anniversary committee meeting.The Pleasant Valley art department will hold a logo contest with awards coming from the 250th anniversary committee.Historical presentations will be given to history classes. Polk Elementary especially asked about scheduling as many as necessary so they are shared by all students in grades to be decided by the district.Act 2, the small games of chance act, makes it more complicated to hold events such as raffles and drawings or other gambling events that are commonly held as community fundraisers.Winners of any prize over $100 must be reported to the state.
