Eighty Lions, Lioness and guests met at Lake Naomi, Pocono Pines, Monroe County, to conduct the quarterly business meeting for the District 14U Lions, encompassing clubs in Carbon, Monroe, Pike and Schuylkill counties. In addition to the many regular reports, three special recognitions were given out and two special motions were presented and approved.

The motions allowed the combining of the Stroud Township Lions with the Stroudsburg Lions Club, continuing under the Stroudsburg Lions Club name.The three presentations included District Governor Scott Dudley presenting Lehighton Franklin Township Lion Shirley Gross with a plaque in recognition of her being named a Melvin Jones Fellow, courtesy of her own Lions Club which supported that honor with a $1,000 donation to Lions Clubs International in her name.The second honor was presented to PDG Bob Argot by DG Scott Dudley. It was a framed LCIF Helping Hands Award from LCIF Chairperson, Sid L. Scruggs III, Lions Past International President."This award is given to Lions who exemplify the 'We Serve' spirit and play a vital role in aiding LCIF."Argot is the District Coordinator for LCIF for District 14U."Your selfless contributions to LCIF has enabled the Foundation to aid even more people and have a greater impact on lives worldwide," continued the letter from Scruggs.The third award, most likely the first such award presented in Pennsylvania, the First Believer Excellent Award, was presented by Past International Director Robert Miller to DG Scott Dudley from Lions International President Wing-Kun Tam of Korea.DG Dudley was given that award, "for chartering a new club and having positive membership in October 2011," according to PID Miller.Starting a new club energizes the communities that are touched by Lions. Believing in the power of service has resulted in fulfilling community needs through membership growth and new club formation, summarized Miller.Beltzville Lions Club chartered on Sept. 20, 2012. The club presently has 35 members.
