The Jim Thorpe Community Watch meetings for 2012 will start on Feb. 16. They will be held at 7 p.m., on the third Thursday of the month, at Jim Thorpe Memorial Park.

This year's meetings will feature guest speakers. The meetings and guest speakers are as follows:

Feb. 16: Chief Joseph Schatz will speak on elder care. Officer David Joseph will also be visiting.

March 15: Mark Janner, a martial arts instructor, will provide some self-defense lessons.

April 19: Carbon County Communications Center representatives will show proper procedures when making a 911 call.

May 17: Dr. Katz will talk about bullying and how it affects all age groups in the community.

June 21: Officer Justin Sannie will present a talk on gangs and drugs.

July 19: Cindy, Guy and Logan Henning will discuss the agenda for the town's National Night Out, which will be held Aug. 7.

Aug. 16: The Hennings will discuss the National Night Out's outcome.

Sept. 20: Borough council member JoAnn Klitsch will talk about borough issues and how to get answers.

Oct. 18: An awards ceremony will be held.
