Cub Scout Awards
On Sunday, Feb. 5, at our Lady Queen of Peace Church, the following Cub Scouts were recognized for having done the work to receive the listed religious emblems: Light of Christ Tyler Ewing; Parvuli Dei Jason Chatell, William Chechel, David Mondillo, Raymond Pasqua III and Charles Whyte II.
After the Mass, the Cubs were recognized at a social time and Cub Pack 98 presented Our Lady Queen of Peace with the 2012 charter.
PV School Board
The Pleasant Valley School District Board of Education will meet at 8 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8, in the district office in Brodheadsville.
Family Fun Night
Chestnuthill School's Family Fun Night is Friday, Feb. 10.
Monroe County Seniors will meet at Zion Lutheran at 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 10, and again on Wednesday, Feb. 15. in the Parish Hall.
Renewal of Vows
Effort UMC will host a Renewal of Vows (wedding vows) celebration for its church family this coming Sunday. Those wishing to be a part of it should contact the church at (570) 629-1890 for more information.
4-H Club seeks members
The Insects Are Us 4-H Club is seeking new members, ages 8 to 18, to explore these fascinating tiny creatures, with which people share the world.
Club members will learn to collect and display insects, and enter their collections in the West End Fair and State Farm Show.
The club has been in existence for over 15 years, won many awards and watched former club members graduate college with science and teaching degrees.
The club usually meets the second Friday evening and the fourth Saturday morning of the month.

All Sports Club
Pleasant Valley's All Sports Club will meet at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 13, in the high school library.
The West End Rotary Club will host Katie McCardle as its speaker when it meets at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Western Pocono Community Library. She will speak about the Rehab Care Group.
Troop 476 will meet at Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, at 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9. It alternates with Girl Scout Troop 411 in meeting there. Troop 411 will meet at 6 p.m. Feb. 16.
