The shapely white pine Christmas tree that was presented to Governor David Lawrence at Harrisburg came from the farm of Bet Bachert, New Ringgold. Presentation of the tree was made by Fred R. Strathmeyer of York, president of the Pennsylvania Christmas Tree Growers Association, and Bachert, a member of the association who was grand champion winner among Yule tree growers at the 1962 Farm Show.
