Lehighton 7-6POCONO MOUNTAIN'S IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Charles Mann (1-2-30 TD pass), RB Devyn Papa (21-65 rush), WR Jake DeJohn (1-30 TD receiving)LEHIGHTON'S IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Anthony Farole (10-22-102-TD pass, 16-100 rush), Jacen Nalesnik (6-10-TD rush)KEYS TO THE GAME: The Indians have to move the ball better this week aganist the Cardinals and cut down on their mistakes. The Lehighton defense will be tested by the Cardinals with talented Sophomore RB Devyn Papa who can break out at any time.FAST FACTS: Fans can expect a high scoring affair this week after rain limited boths teams offenses last week. The Indians will look to avenge last year's 62-point effort from the Cardinals and put up some points big points of their own.QUOTABLE: "Obviously we have to move the ball better this week and put some points on the board. Consistency is key for us against Pocono Mountain East and our defense has to play well against Papa and Mann." Lehighton Head Coach George EbbertJim Thorpe at Shenandoah ValleyWHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.RECORDS: Jim Thorpe 0-4 (0-3 Anthracite Football League); Shenandoah Valley 2-2 (1-2 Anthracite Football League)LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Panther Valley def. Jim Thorpe 21-6; Minersville def. Shenandoah Valley 43-28JIM THORPE'S IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Pat Duvigneaud (10-18-137-TD pass), WR Khaaliq Lynch (4-27 receiving), WR P.J. Coleman (3-94-TD receiving)SHENANDOAH'S IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Chris Palubinsky (14-24-143-2TD pass), RB Eric Whalen (9-116-2TD rush)KEYS TO THE GAME: The Olympians will need to contain talented Devils' rusher Eric Whalen to have a chance in this one. Shenandoah will spread teams out and Thorpe will have to create some turnovers to give their offense some good field position. Also, the Olympians will be with out three starters on their offensive line and lost their top defensive player Ryan Saunders to injury last week against Panther Valley. That means young players will have to get used to the Friday night lights real fast against the Devils.FAST FACTS: This is the worst start ever for the Olympians under Coach Rosenerger. Their worst start prior to this season was 1-1. Jim Thorpe leads the overall series with Shenandoah Valley 7-6.QUOTABLE: "We played a little better defensively last week against Panther Valley, but we still need a lot of improvement. I think first we have to slow down Whalen and go from there on the defensive side of the football. We need to be more consistent on offense, stay multi-dimensional, and take advantage of our skill players in certain match-ups." Jim Thorpe Head Coach Mark RosenbergerNorth Schuylkill at MarianWHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.RECORDS: North Schuylkill 4-0 (4-0 Anthracite Football League); Marian 2-2 (1-1 Anthracite Football League)LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: North Schuylkill def. Schuylkill Haven 50-13; Pius X def. Marian 45-13NORTH SCHUYLKILL'S IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Ryan Henning (5-9-219-4TDs pass), WR Jon Long (3-136-3TDs rec),MARIAN'S IMPACT PLAYERS: RB Paul Martin (16-42-TD rush), RB Dylan Quirk (5-62-TD rush, 2-30 rec), QB Ryan Karnish (3-8-38 pass)KEYS TO THE GAME: According to Dakosty, the Colts can't keep playing the way they have been if they want to have a chance at beating North Schuylkill. Marian has been making too many mistakes and has been turning the ball over too much. The Spartans have always been strong and physical, especially on the ground, but this year they have added a passing attack. The added passing game will put a lot of pressure on the Colts' defense to step up and make some plays.FAST FACTS: North Schuylkill is averaging 48.2 points-per-game so far this season. The Spartans have scored 35, 41, 67 and 50 points in their four games. Meanwhile, they are giving up an average of eight points-per-game. The most a team has scored on North Schuylkill so far has been 13 points by both Jim Thorpe and Schuylkill Haven. The Spartans are second to only Nazareth (48.7) in terms of scoring average in all of District 11. They are fourth in all of Eastern Pennsylvania (Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 11 and 12). Their defensive average is tied for third best in all of District 11.QUOTABLE: "We have been able to move the ball when we aren't hurting ourselves. We can't afford to do that this week. We are excited to be playing a solid team like North Schuylkill. We are just hoping not to hurt ourselves. If we can stay away from that then I think we have good chance." Marian Head Coach Stan DakostySalisbury at Northern LehighWHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.RECORDS: Salisbury 0-4 (0-4 Colonial League); Northern Lehigh 4-0 (4-0 Colonial League)LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Catasauqua def. Salisbury 46-19; Northern Lehigh def. Palisades 36-6SALISBURY'S IMPACT PLAYERS: RB Andy Eherts (19-118 rush), QB Trent Clay (1-1-30 pass)NORTHERN LEHIGH'S IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Dylan Hoffman (2-5-36 passing), RB Trevor Yashur (22-243-3TD rush)KEYS TO THE GAME: The 'Dawgs need to contain RB Andy Eherts. Northern Lehigh Head Coach Joe Tout believes that Eherts is one of the best players in the Colonial League and he is their main concern going into Friday night. The Bulldogs offensive line will be tested with Salisbury's 3-5 stunt defense.FAST FACTS: The Bulldogs have been rolling so far this season and there is no reason week 5 shouldn't produce the same result. The 'Dawgs are averaging 300.8 yards on offense and only giving up 162.8 yards per game.QUOTABLE: "The big key for us is to stop Eherts, he runs the ball tough and is one of the best players in the league. If we can do that I think we will be in pretty good shape. Our offensive line needs to play solid against their blitzing 3-5 defense." Northern Lehigh Head Coach Joe ToutNorthwestern at Notre DameWHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.RECORDS: Notre Dame 0-4 (0-4 Colonial League); Northwestern 3-1 (3-1 Colonial League)LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Bangor def. Notre Dame 29-6; Southern Lehigh def. Northwestern 28-6NORTHWESTERN'S IMPACT PLAYERS:QB/RB/LB Ty Cunningham (12-45-TD rush), QB/WR Ben Snyder (10-10 rush,), RB Payton Bachman (7-15 rush, 2-(-5) rec)NOTRE DAME'S IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Kordell Threadford (TD pass), RB Kyree Bowles, WR Dysean Alexander, OL/DL Mike Williams.KEYS TO THE GAME: The Tigers are should be able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The Tigers will look to get their skill players in space and make the big plays they made over the first three weeks of the season. The Northwestern offensive line will have to be ready for the many stunts the Notre Dame defensive front uses. Defensively, the Tigers will try to avoid letting the Crusaders jump out to an early lead the way many of Northwestern's opponents have done this season.FAST FACTS: Northwestern is outscoring opponents by just a 27-20 margin through four games. After that it gets lopsided. The Tigers hold a 116-38 edge through the other three quarters. They've outscored opponents 47-16 in second quarteers, 42-15 in third quarters and 27-7 in the final quarters of this year's games.QUOTABLE: "Notre Dame runs some of their stunts better than Southern Lehigh did. Our offensive line has to be able to react to what it sees" Northwestern Head Coach Tom LinettePalisades at PalmertonWHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.RECORDS: Palisades 0-4 (0-4 Colonial League); Palmerton 2-2 (2-2 Colonial League)LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Northern Lehigh def. Palisades 36-6; Saucon Valley def. Palmerton 21-0PALISADES' IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Jesse Snyder (1-7 passing, 25-14 rushing), RB Christian Gretzinger (3-7 rushing)PALMERTON'S IMPACT PLAYERS: QB Cody Grohotolski, RB Alex Vignone (24-17 rush, 5-7-67 pass), WR Marty Szukics (3-3 rush)KEYS TO THE GAME: Palmerton wants to have a fast start and strong finish. The Bombers need to play fundamental football, protect the ball and tackle well. More importantly, they need to execute their assignments efficiently and consistently; every player on every down.FAST FACTS: Before blanking the Pirates 28-0 last season the Bombers lost 13-straight games to Palisades. This is the fifth straight week where the Bombers will face a winless opponent.QUOTABLE: "Last year we beat Pailsades for the first time to end a long losing streak against them. This week will be very tough. Palisades always brings their "A" game when they play us. In order for us to be successful, we need to be focused, disciplined and execute efficiently. We can't leave anything on the field." Palmerton Head Coach Chris WalkowiakPanther Valley at Schuylkill HavenWHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.RECORDS: Panther Valley 1-3 (1-1 Anthracite Football League); Schuylkill Haven 1-3 (0-3 Anthracite Football League)LAST WEEK'S RESULTS: Panther Valley def. Jim Thorpe 21-6; North Schuylkill def. Schuylkill Haven 50-13PANTHER VALLEY'S IMPACT PLAYERS: RB Rich Smith (27-153-3 TDs rush), RB Mike Weaver (22-104 rush), QB Nick McArdle (18-28 rush)SCHUYLKILL HAVEN'S IMPACT PLAYERS: RB Will Casella (27-137 rush), QB Ryan Fink (TD rush), RB Todd Zimmerman (TD rush)KEYS TO THE GAME: Haven running back Will Casella racked up 137 yards rushing last week against a stout North Schuylkill defense. The Hurricanes will probably look to get him the ball early and often and the Panthers know that. How they contain Casella will go a long way in determining the outcome. What impressed head coach Lon Hazlet the most was the 'Canes offensive line. Their front five is big and physical and controls the line of scrimmage. As for the Panthers offensively, they would like to throw the ball a little better, but are more concerned about getting better at the fundementals rather than any one aspect.FAST FACTS: The Panthers come into this weekend's game having finally snapped their three-game losing streak. Conversely, the Hurricanes have dropped three straight after winning their first game of the year. Panther Valley has outscored its opponents 20-13 in the first quarter. However, after that the Panthers are being outscored 115-26 the rest of the way, including 26-0 in the fourth quarter.QUOTABLE: "It was a big boost to get a win last week. The kids were 1-12 going into last week since the beginning of last year, so it was nice to finally get a win. It has carried over this week into our practices and I think that has us ready to go out and get another win this week." Panther Valley Head Coach Lon Hazlet
