Beltzville Lions Club receives charter

Beltzville Lions Club has an official standing in Carbon County.

The club's charter was signed by Lions Clubs International on Tuesday, Sept. 20 and an official charter celebration will be held in December.District 14U is the sponsoring organization of the new club."I am proud to welcome these men and women into Lions," said Joe Craig, president of the Beltzville Lions Club. "Carbon County will be proud to have such a find group serving their community."Additional Beltzville Lions Club officers are, Bill Leslie, treasurer; Jim Logue, secretary, and Gail Maholick, membership chairman.Lions Clubs identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. The Beltzville club plans to become involved with the Old Fashioned Hay Ride and Fall Fest to be held Oct. 23 at the Lehigh Canal at Weissport, and the Weissport Redneck Festival. It also plans to hold other activities to benefit the elderly and handicapped, provide support for needy children and recreational opportunities for youth.Beltzville Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month.
