3 enter guilty pleas

Three persons entered pleas in Carbon County Court on Tuesday after their cases were called for trial scheduled for next week.

Jon David Lipari, 23, of Easton, entered a nolle contendere (I will not contest) plea to a count of simple assault. In exchange for the plea the district attorney's office dropped a count of aggravated assault.Lipari was arrested by Kidder Township police for an incident on or about July 30, 2010.Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the plea and placed Lipari on probation for two years and ordered he pay restitution of $3,000, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on drug and alcohol use, render three hours of community service per month while on probation, pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.Two persons charged for an incident in Palmerton entered pleas before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.Eleanor Schmick, 52, and Vincent Smith, 60, both of Palmerton, pleaded to a summary count of criminal trespass. The DA's office reduced the count from a misdemeanor to a summary.The two were arrested by Palmerton police on Nov. 27, 2010, for entering an apartment at the Palmerton Apartments, 140 Delaware Avenue, after they had been evicted.Webb ordered both to pay fines of $25 each and court costs.
