American Legion plans Memorial Day activities

The American Legion Post 16, Slatington will have memorial services at outlying cemeteries on Sunday May 29 beginning at 8 a.m. They will be visiting Williamstown Cemetery at 8:10 a.m., Jacksonville Cemetery at 8:40 a.m., New Tripoli

U.C.C. Cemetery at 9:15 a.m., Heidelberg

U.C.C. at 9:45 a.m., Neff's Lutheran Cemetery at 10:15 a.m., 7th St. Catholic Church at 10:45 a.m., Union Cemetery at Delke's grave at 11 a.m., Friedens Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. and Presbyterian Church Cemetery at 11:45 a.m.A dinner will follow at the post home. Legionnaires, Auxiliary, Sons of American Legion and Legion Riders are invited to attend.On Monday May 30, they will visit Catholic Cemetery Washington St. Slatington at 8:05 a.m., Slatedale Cemetery at 8:30 a.m., Trout Creek-New Covered Bridge in Slatington at 8:50 a.m. A parade will follow, beginning at 10 a.m. at Main and Second St. and proceed to Fairview Cemetery in Slatington, where there will be a service.Joseph Garrera, executive director of Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, will speak.In case of inclement weather, the services will be held at 10:30 a.m. First Baptist Church, Slatington.
