Eleven decide against trials, enter guilty pleas

Eleven defendants who had previously entered not guilty pleas to criminal charges when they were arraigned before the district attorney, but when their cases were called for trial this week, chose not to go on trial but entered guilty pleas which were accepted by Judge John E. Domalakes in the Schuylkill County court. Sentences were deferred pending a pre-sentence investigative report prepared for the judge by the adult probation office.

Those scheduled to be sentenced by Domalakes Thursday, April 28, are as follows:Brad Elliot Scheeler, 34, of 52 Grier Ave., Barnesville, pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence (DUI) and driving while his operating privileges were suspended as charged by Mahanoy City Patrolman Christopher Zubris.Melissa Catherine Snyder, 25, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to charges of DUI, restrictions on having alcoholic beverages in vehicle, careless driving, driving upon sidewalk and failing to drive on right side of road as charged by Pine Grove Sgt. Jeffrey Futchko.William Francis McGovern, 48, Auburn, pleaded guilty to charges of DUI, failing to drive on right side of road, failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic, careless driving and stop sign violation as charged by Trooper John S. Carr when stopped on Summer Hill Road in South Manheim Township.Kevin Raymond Rhode, 38, Schuylkill Haven, pleaded guilty to charges of DUI, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, vehicle turning left must activate turn signals and careless driving as charged by Trooper Brian L. Walters when stopped on SR443 in East Brunswick Township.Those scheduled to be sentenced Thursday, May 5, are as follows:Darnell Clinton Coad, 30, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (CS) as charged by Pottsville Cpl. Dennis Wiederhold.Kyle Andrew Rockwell, 23, Hegins, pleaded guilty to charges of firearms not to be carried without a license, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, loitering and prowling at night and public drunkenness as charged by Pottsville Patrolman Brian W. Kotzmoyer.Shane Michael Frye, 20, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to charges of delivery of a CS, possession with intent to deliver, corruption of minors and misbranding of a CS as charged by Pottsville Patrolman Eugene M. Yourey.Keith Lamont King, 38, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to charges of delivery of a CS, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of communication facilities and possession of a CS as charged by Pottsville Patrolman Renee Galle.Joseph J. Schneider, 57, Frackville, pleaded guilty to charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person as charged by Frackville Cpl. Marvin Livergood, and charges of defiant trespass and two counts of harassment filed by Frackville Patrolman Parnell.Scott Bradley Haluska, 37, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to retail theft at Giant Supermarket and Ollies Surplus Store in Cressona Mall and Walmart Store in Saint Clair.Jason Oshman, 23, Mahanoy City, pleaded guilty to charges of simple assault and harassment as cited by Mahanoy City Cpl. Michael Dissinger.
