Schuylkill theft suspect caught

A Schuylkill County woman, wanted for a retail theft incident at the Schuylkill Mall in New Castle Township, was apprehended this week and jailed.

State police at Frackville said Stephanie Knorr, 23, of Frackville, was taken into custody on Wednesday, Feb. 9, and jailed on a probation violation. She was also arraigned on the retail theft charge with bail set at $25,000, 10 percent.Troopers allege that on Dec. 1, 2010, about 3:15 p.m. Knorr was involved in an incident outside the Sears store. Loss prevention personnel of the store attempted to stop her while leaving the store with merchandise she did not pay for.In the parking lot she struggled with the personnel and struck a female security associate with a tool set. She also pushed another associate before fleeing in a 1990s model Pontiac Grand Am.An investigation into the incident led to the identity of Knorr as the person involved and a felony retail theft warrant was obtained for her arrest on Dec. 8. She is also charged with harassment for the incident with store personnel, troopers said.
