Tamaqua police arrest New Philadelphia man

A New Philadelphia man ended up in the Schuylkill County Prison Thursday morning compliments of Tamaqua Police.

Officers were dispatched to 31 N. Railroad St., Tamaqua, at 12:09 a.m. Thursday for a reported unwanted person on the premises. The caller identified the unwanted individual as Brandon Hosier, 28, saying there was also a warrant our for Hosier's arrest.When officers arrived, they found Hosier asleep on a sofa. Upon waking, Hosier saw the officer and fled out the rear door of the residence. Following a short foot chase, Hosier made a move towards Patrolman Matt Houser, then fled again. Officer Houser used a TASER to stop Hosier's flight.The Schuylkill County Communications Center confirmed there was an active warrant for Hosier, issued by Schuylkill County Adult Probation, and he was taken into custody.A pat down search was conducted, resulting in finding a glass pipe with burnt residue on Hosier's person.Hosier was transported to the county prison in Pottsville and lodged in the jail due to the warrant.Officer Houser will also file charges of defiant trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia against Hosier.
