Retail theft, other arrests reported

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported on three retail theft and other arrests made by officers in recent days.

Two of the retail theft incidents occurred at Bill's Shop Rite, in Mt. Pocono. On Sept. 9 about 4:42 p.m. officers were called to the store by store security. At the scene officers found Roberto J.C. Mitchell, 18, of Canadensis. He allegedly took a Monster Energy drink valued at $2.39 and hid it in is pants and attempted to leave the store without paying for it. He was cited and released. On Sept. 10 about 7:03 p.m. officers went to the store for theft report. On scene officers found Richard P. Cassella, no age or address given. He was cited and released.On Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. officers were called to the Walmart store in Mt. Pocono. Police were told that store security observed Carl A. Valero, 20, of Blakeslee, and a male juvenile from New York City, N.Y., take a box of C02 cartridges and attempted to conceal them and leave the store without paying for the item. Both were cited and released.Also on Sept. 10 police responded to a domestic incident at 1401 Woodland Drive, in Pocono Summit. On scene officers were told by Tina McAndrew that her brother, James Gonzalez, 49, of that address, had grabbed her by the neck and slammed her into a wall. Officers determined that Gonzalez did in fact grabbed his sister and pushed her. He was cited for harassment.On Sept. 12 about 12:52 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop along SR196 for a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as Jennifer Torres, 26, of Tobyhanna. While speaking with Torres police detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A vehicle search was conducted and found was drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.Torres will be charged with the two drug violations, police said.
