Two Tamaqua Area Senior High School students have been cited by Tamaqua police following an incident on Sept. 24.
Officers were notified of the incident by school district personnel after a 15-year-old male from New Ringgold allegedly struck a 17-year-old male from Tamaqua.
According to police, the younger male punched the older male in the face. When questioned the offender told officers he was defending his sister, who was being touched inappropriately by the older boy.
The sister confirmed being touched by the other male at least four times that day and several times in the past despite telling the male to stop his actions.
Both were told they should have reported the incidents to authorities instead of the brother taking matters into his own hands. He was cited for harassment.
The older male admitted touching the girl but told officers they "always fool around with each other." He too was cited for harassment.
