Palmerton library offers holiday solutions

During the month of December the Palmerton Area Library will offer every book, video, puzzle, cassette and DVD in its basement book sale at a very low rate.

The library will also offer gold cards for an annual fee. The holder of a gold card is exempt from any library fines or fees for one year. Gold card holders can check out books and movies without worry of being late and paying fines. For golfers, the library has gift certificates available for the First Annual Palmerton Area Library OPEN to Keep the Palmerton Area Library Open. The library board of directors is sponsoring the tournament to help support the library and make up some of the funding that has been cut by the state library system in the past two years. The tournament will be held in June at the Blue Ridge Country Club. If you are not a golfer but still want to participate, gift certificates are available for just the dinner at the clubhouse following the tournament.Another option for the hard-to-buy-for person or for child who already has a room full of toys and books is to purchase a book for the library in honor of a friend or family member. This is the gift that keeps on giving since the whole community will benefit from additional books at the library. A special notice will be placed in the front of the book with the gift information printed on it. You may make a monetary donation and let the library choose the book or you may request a specific title or author. Donation forms are available at the check-out desk. For more information call the library at (610) 826-3424. The library is open Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
