Monroe drivers facing DUI charges

Two Monroe County drivers are facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) following two separate vehicle stops made over the past weekend.

On Friday, March 19, about 10:24 p.m. Pocono Mountain Regional police stopped a vehicle along SR196 at the Penn Water Company for vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Peter Decker, 53, of Tobyhanna, He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, where he submitted to a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.On Sunday, March 21, about 12:16 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle along Long Pond Road at SR115 in Blakeslee for several motor vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Michael Schanbacher, 22, of Long Pond. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was transported to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.
