Phillipsburg Railroad Historians celebrate 20th anniversary

On Sunday, Sept. 5 the Phillipsburg Railroad Historians will hold its 20th Anniversary Grand Opening celebration.

from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. It's located at 10 Pine Alley corner of Cross Street, Phillipsburg NJ, just off South Main St.The triple celebration marks the 20th year of the founding of the Phillipsburg Railroad Historians, the 50th year of entering into service of the Centerville & Southwestern locomotive # 1503, and the first public appearance since 1972 of Centerville & Southwestern double-ender diesel # 1502 after 38 years of storage and celebrating its 70th birthday.First and foremost event of the day will be the Grand Opening First Run of the Western Extension C&S Main, a breaking of the banner to begin the 1,539-foot extended run for passengers at 10 a.m.All the other regular features during this Open House will be available along with tours of Public Service Trolley # 2651, the Chestnut Ridge Mack Railbus and our new General Electric 25-ton diesel switcher.A special visit of the the famed Mack Truck Rolling Motor Museum is planned in addition to our other historic attractions.Becker Farms enthusiasts should not miss this special event.The museum, library and gift shop will be open for viewing pleasure.Bring the family for a free and fun-filled day at the rail yard and watch the Norfolk Southern train action from a safe location.Free parking for the event is available on-site and a short walk to the Delaware River Steam Train and to Union Station Museum will make your train day a memorable and busy one.Museum hot line 908-859-1146 or additional information can be had at 610-826-2580.
