Tamaqua Legion stays unbeaten

Tamaqua won its third straight game in the Schuylkill-Berks Legion playoffs, defeating Southern Area on Thursday.

S-B LEGIONTamaqua-Southern A.Tamaqua is the only undefeated team remaining in the North Division playoffs of the Schuylkill-Berks Legion Baseball League after defeating Southern Area, 11-4.The Blue Sox got a strong pitching performance from Tyler Milot and outstanding hitting from the top of their line-up to capture the winner's bracket final of the double-elimination tournament.Milot went the distance, scattering eight hits and striking out three.Meanwhile, the top four hitters in the Tamaqua batting order combined for 10 hits, nine runs and eight RBIs. Leading the way was Ty Rother, who had three hits and six RBIs. Mike Streisel chipped in three hits, two runs scored and two RBIs; leadoff batter Jay Pilla had three hits and scored four times; and Chris Pilla scored three runs. The Blue Sox's offensive outburst also included a pair of hits from both Jordan Heisler and Derek Linkhorst.Four teams have already been eliminated from the North Division playoffs while Valley View, Pine Grove and Southern Area all have one loss. Tonight, Tamaqua will host Valley View at 5:30 p.m. while Pine Grove will be at Southern Area. The North Division will conclude on Saturday.
