State police are reminding residents that they will have extra patrols during the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend.

Troopers will be watching for speeders, aggressive drivers and intoxicated drivers.

The official holiday enforcement period will run from Friday, July 2, to Monday, July 5.

Motorists should be aware of the many single lane, reduced speed construction zones on state roadways and use extra caution when traveling in them. Headlights are required by law to be on in all work zones. If it is an active work zone, with workers present, fines are doubled.

Motorists are asked to give themselves extra travel time and to wear their seatbelts. Proper use of seatbelts along with vehicles airbag, reduce the risk and severity of injuries sustained in a crash, troopers said.
