Two drivers facing charges

Two drivers are facing charges following separate incidents.

State police at Lehighton said Richard E. Bauer, 38, of Jim Thorpe, was operating a 2000 Saab 9S southbound on Behrens Road in the area of Church Road, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County, about 2 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, when the car left the road for unknown reasons. The vehicle traveled across the northbound lane and onto the shoulder and a embankment, then struck a tree head-on.Troopers said Bauer fled the scene prior to their arrival. Damages were termed heavy to the front of the Saab. Troopers said Bauer will be cited.The second incident occurred about 12:45 a.m. on Monday along Rolling Hills Road in the area of Kunkletown Raod, in Ross Township, Monroe County.Troopers aid Steven D. Brescia, 22, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 1991 Dodge Stealth northbound around a bend and was going too fast for conditions. The car left its lane of travel and crossed onto the east shoulder and struck a tree head-on. Troopers said Brescia then fled the scene. He will also be cited, troopers said.
