The Kidder Township board of supervisors unanimously voted to adopt resolution 20,001 which sets the tax rates for 2010. The resolution called for no tax increase in Kidder Township.

The budget for Kidder Township will require the use of almost $400,000 in the reserve funds. This could mean bad news for Kidder Township if the economic conditions facing the county and the country as a whole do not turn around.Kidder Township receives the majority of money it uses from the commercial enterprises in the township. The board felt that to raise taxes would only increase the strain on the economic depressed conditions these businesses are facing.If the economic conditions in the township do not improve, the next step would regrettably be layoffs. The first place the board would have to look to save money would be the police department. The largest portion of the budget for Kidder Township is the police department. Another area they would look to help save money would be to cut back on township staff. The supervisors have already placed strict budget constraints on township staff in hopes of saving money to prevent layoffs.Several members of the Planning Commission said they would be fine with receiving no pay for the work they do for the township. The board felt it would be more appropriate to continue to pay the Planning Commission members but allow them to donate the money back to the township if they felt inclined to do so. The board of supervisors had spent many budget planning meetings to see where they could cut cost to the budget and save money. The board was able to bring in the new budget $180,000.00 less than the previous Kidder Township budget from last year.
