Businesses pass liquor board test

Five Carbon County establishments that have liquor licenses recently passed a state liquor board test.

On Thursday, April 15, between 8 p.m. and midnight, officers of the state liquor control board enforcement unit conducted age compliance checks at the five licensed establishments.Age compliance checks consist of using supervised underage buyers in an attempt to purchase alcoholic beverages. The five businesses checked were all found to be in compliance. The licensed establishments that did not serve underage buyers were Marco's Pizza, Kelly's Irish Pub and Miner's Pub, all in Lansford; The Dogg House in Nesquehoning; and Alfie's Pizza in Lehighton. The liquor board reported that employees in all five establishments challenged the underage buyer to produce identification, and after reviewing the underage buyer's ID, recognized the buyer as being underage and refused him service.
