Autism Awareness Day being observed today

If you notice that many of your co-workers are wearing blue today, it might be for a special reason.

Today marks the third annual celebration of World Autism Awareness Day, the highlight of Autism Awareness Month. Many people are wearing the color to raise awareness of the disorder.Last night, the Empire State Building was awash in blue light to mark the day.Findings by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, Georgia, show that in 2006, 1 in every 110 children in the United States have an autism spectrum disorder. The numbers are expected to increase.Autism Spectrum Disorders are an array of developmental desiabilities that can cause problems in socialisation, behavior and communication. Typically, symptoms surface prior to age 3.
