The North Central Pa. Regional Sobriety Checkpoint DUI Taskforce and Expanded DUI/Underage Drinking Enforcement Program has released the following information from Roving DUI Patrols held this past weekend.
Oct. 16 saw five law enforcement departments represented by five officers in a roving patrol. A total of 55 vehicles were contacted and detained. Officers issued 21 traffic citations, 1 seat belt citation and issued 37 warnings.
On Oct. 17, a total of 32 vehicles were contacted and detained. One motorist was tested and arrested for DUI. Officers issued seven traffic citations, one seat belt citation, made five criminal arrests and issued 26 warnings. Three departments were represented by three officers.
Sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols will also be conducted through Oct. 25 on state routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 309, 443, 895, 125, 25, 924 and 54.
Travelers are reminded to dial 911 if they suspect a drunk driver.

The sobriety checkpoints and Roving DUI patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
