Walnutport Canal Festival rescheduled

Walnutport Canal Festival committee has rescheduled some of its activities that highlighted this weekend because of the weather said Marilyn Kaul. A second Nor'easter is expected to bring more rain and wind this weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

The 8th annual Towpath Trot has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 for 9 a.m. Registration will be held at 8 a.m. at the Canal Pavilion that morning.The Walnutport Canal Festival has been rescheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25 from noon to 6 p.m. There is no admission fee, and there is free parking.Entertainment includes on the Canal Street Stage: 12-1:30 p.m. Tom Ruch (minstrel), 2-3:30 p.m. Forgotten Mountain Boys, 4-5:30 p.m. Jay Smar; 429 S. Canal Street 12-6 p.m. A Mighty Fine Lines String Band; strolling the grounds will be 12-6 p.m. The Breaker Boys, 2-4 p.m. Ken Purcell & Sons, and 2-5 p.m. Tom Ruch; and in the Children's Creativity Corral 1-4 p.m. Jolly Holly the Clown. Free attractions include Lehigh Valley Zoo Birds of Prey, Lenni Lenape Culture, Gov. Wolf Historical Society, New Tripoli Historical Society, Carbon County Friends of Animals, and Equestrian Demonstrations.The Haunted Woods has been cancelled for this year.
