Missing Palmerton toddler found safe

A toddler who was missing from his home in Palmerton earlier this morning has been found and returned safely to his family.

Palmerton Police said they received a call at around 8:15 a.m. that said a young boy was wandering the streets alone. The boy, who was found at Third and Lehigh, was picked up by a neighbor, according to Police Chief Randy Smith."His parents have been located, and he has been returned," Smith said. "He had no shoes, no jacket, and he was wet from the rain."Smith said police weren't exactly sure of the boy's age, though he's believed to be about three years old.The set of circumstances that led to the boy's departure from his home have yet to be determined, Smith said."We can only assume he exited the house by himself," he said. "That's all we can assume at this point."In the meantime, Smith said the department plans to make some phone calls, and added that it has been in contact with the Carbon County Children & Youth.
