Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter, will hold its annual telethon on Sunday, Nov. 22, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Penn's Peak, Jim Thorpe. The telethon will be aired live on Blue Ridge Communications TV-13 and Service Electric, channel 19 in the Tamaqua area.

Hosts for the evening will be Nick Hawkey, Dr. Edward Miller, George Roberts and Kristal Schroeder.Funds raised at the telethon will be used to help this all volunteer organization fulfill dreams for seriously, chronically and terminally ill children in the Carbon County and surrounding communities.There will be a great lineup of entertainment including: Tommy Zito (The Piano Man), who will serve as the house band. The popular "Piano Man" will entertain with his comic personality, impersonations and his never ending repertoire of music. Also performing will be the students from Mountain Karate Academy, with owners Paul and Rich Maglionico, the band Olde Friends, students from Tricia's Dance Extreme, the Dream Kids, Nicole Donatone, Hailey Hoherchick, 2009 Jim Thorpe Idol; Jeann Andrews, Erin Kelley, Blue Mountain Christmas, Kristal Schroeder, Joe Urban and Robin Drexler, Joyful Noise, a local barbershop quartet; and Sharon Elaine.Several children who have had dreams fulfilled will also be on hand to talk about their dream.Eileen Thompson, telethon chairman, said, "We are honored to have this opportunity to publicly thank the many organizations and individuals who are dedicated to our organization. The Blue Ridge Chapter currently has 14 children in various stages of dream fulfillment. This Chapter is 100% volunteer and all money raised is used for our children. We are proud to be able to continue our scholarship program and we currently have two Dream Come True children enrolled in this program. Ohl Fuel, Kovatch Enterprises, Country Inn and Suites and Jim Thorpe National Bank.Dream Maker Awards will be presented to outstanding volunteers who have served the organization for three years or more. 2009 Dream Make Award recipients are: Tommy Zito, who has been entertaining at the telethon for many years; Dynamite Woodworking, who donates a portion of the profits from the Haunted Waldorf Hotel to Dream Come True; Mountain Karate Academy, who holds a "Kick for a Cause" fundraiser; Walnutport Playground Association, which has held a baseball game to raise funds for Dream Come True; and Richard Sterner, Irv Good and Steve Holler, who help organize Becky's Drive-In Fundraiser held each year in October.Certificates of Appreciation will be presented to: the band "Foreigner" and Country Harvest Family Market.
