Two persons were injured in a head-on crash at 8:25 a.m. Dec. 20 on Route 443 in North Manheim Township, according to state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks.

Police said Joshua A. Sophy, 18, and Michael G. Kurchock, 53, both of Port Carbon, were hurt in the crash. The severity of their injuries is unknown, police said.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating a recklessly endangering incident whereby someone shot a .22-caliber gun through a home in Branchdale.

The victims are Kyle Shuey, 28, Heather Matukewicz, 26, and a 4-year-old juvenile, who police said were in the room where the shot made impact.

The incident happened at 8:55 p.m. Dec. 30, at 96 S. State Road, Reilly Township.

Harry Holzer, 65, of Allentown, has been arrested by state police at the Fogelsville barracks for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Police said they stopped a vehicle he was driving at 9:01 p.m., Dec. 30, along Interstate 78 in Salisbury Township and made the criminal arrest.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks were summoned on Jan. 1 at noon to investigate an incident they are calling "theft of services."

Police said the incident happened at the Country Gas and Convenience Store, Route 715, Jackson Township.

Police said a 53-year-old man from New Jersey told them someone dumped three bags of garbage into his dumpster.

A theft by unlawful taking incident reported to have happened between 3 p.m., Dec. 27, and 1 p.m., Dec. 29, in the Village of Sheridan, Porter Township, Schuylkill County, is being investigated by state police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks.

The victim is Scott M. Smith, 39, of Tower City.

He told police someone entered two unlocked vehicles at the rear of his property and removed the radio from each of them. The actor(s) also stole aluminum wheels from the rear of the property before fleeing undetected.

The value of the items taken is about $210, police said.

State police at the Frackville barracks are investigating a harassment incident that was reported to them at 4:34 p.m., Jan. 1.

The victim is Diane M. Doncheski, 51.

She told police she received a harassing telephone call from a known person.

Cody James Nickisher, 19, of Allentown, is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, as a result of a traffic stop made by state police at the Fogelsville barracks.

Police said he was driving a vehicle on Gehman Road, near Rt. 100, in Lower Macungie Township, when police stopped him for multiple traffic violations and eventually arrested him for the drug-related offenses.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating a criminal mischief incident that was reported to them at 2 p.m., Dec. 31, in Port Carbon.

The victim, Howard C. Schwartz Jr., 45, of Port Carbon, said someone scratched the hood and passenger's side front fender of his 2001 Chevrolet Tracker while it was in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 119 North St.

State police at the Fogelsville barracks are investigating a hit-and-run accident that happened between 9 and 10 p.m., Dec. 29, at 3781 Clay Drive, Lower Macungie Township.

The victim is Victoria R. Rothboat, 50.

She told police an unknown vehicle caused property damaged at her residence located at the above address and left the scene without reporting the incident.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating a theft/forgery incident that happened between 9-9:15 a.m., Dec. 29, in the City of Pottsville.

The victim is Robert Dean Steffie, 59, of Auburn.

He told police someone used one of his personal checks in order to defraud him of $200 at the Union Bank and Trust Company in the city.
