A Long Pond teenager faces an aggravated assault charge stemming from a November 2009 shooting incident.

Christopher S. Lentz, 17, allegedly shot a another teen in the back as he rode his motorized scooter on Glade Drive in the Emerald Lakes development.

According to a news release from Pocono Mountain Regional Police, on Nov. 2, 2009, the 17-year-old victim was hospitalized and required surgery. Police conducted an extensive investigation that culminated in charging Lentz.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating several crashes on Schuylkill County roadways over the past weekend.

A crash occurred about 5:24 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, at the intersection of Seltzer and Bullshead roads in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Mary C. Pothering, 81, of Minersville, was traveling northbound on Bullshead operating a 2011 Nissan Altima while Zachary L. Dixon, 19, of Pottsville, was westbound on Seltzer driving a 2002 Acura RSX.

State police at Frackville are investigating a reported assault incident. The incident reportedly occurred in front of 240 N. Second St., in the Schuylkill County borough of Girardville.

Troopers said Warren Teasley, 29, of Girardville, reported he was struck in the head with a beer bottle about 3:35 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, following a disturbance. Troopers said Teasley received a laceration above his left eye and also to his lip. He was treated at St. Catherine's Hospital, Ashland.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male.

Three driving under the influence (DUI) arrests were reported by Pocono Mountain Regional police this week.

On Monday, Aug. 22, about 11:47 p.m. officers attempted a traffic stop along SR940 at SR314 for an equipment violation and littering. The driver failed to stop and continued west on 940 for nine-tenths of a mile before pulling over in the parking lot of Joe's Kwik Mart in Pocono Summit, Tobyhanna Township.

A Monroe County woman is facing a charge of retail theft following an incident that occurred at Weis Markets, SR209, in Chestnuthill Township.

State police at Fern Ridge said Christine Little, 42, of Effort, was stopped by store security attempting to remove two filet mignon steaks and a small toy from the store without paying for the items. The items are valued at $29.07.

The incident occurred about 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, troopers said.

A Schuylkill County driver was injured in a one vehicle crash that occurred about 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, along SR4033 in West Mahanoy Township.

State police at Frackville said John Reese, of Shenandoah, was driving a 1996 Peterbilt truck southbound when it veered into the northbound lane. Reese attempted to steer it back to the southbound lane but over-corrected causing it to leave the road and crash into a tree.

Reese was transported to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of injuries, troopers said.

A Monroe County man was cited for a dog law violation.

State police at Fern Ridge said Craig Peppriell, 21, of Bartonsvillewoods Road, Jackson Township, was cited about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, for permitting his dog to enter onto another property without permission, unrestrained and not under control.

Troopers noted it is a recurring problem.

A Berks County driver was charged following a one vehicle crash in Schuylkill County.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Nicholas J. Stella, 18, of Hamburg, was driving a 2000 Nissan Altima northbound on SR61, in West Brunswick Township, about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, when he lost control on the wet roadway.

Rush Township police are investigating the theft of a motor vehicle taken Wednesday, Aug. 24, from the Skipper Dippers parking lot in Still Creek.

The vehicle is described as a white 1995 GMC Jimmy, bearing state license plate HNB9891.

The vehicle had been left in the lot, with the keys in the ignition and the motor running.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call police at (570) 668-6100.

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a two-vehicle crash about 11:36 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, along SR903, in the area of the Pocono Whitewater Rafting, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Erica Santiago, 37, of West New York, N.J., was driving a Ford Explorer and slowed down and almost stopped due to traffic ahead of her.

Her vehicle was struck in the rear by a 1993 Ford Tempo driven by Samantha M. Miller, 17, of Jim Thorpe.
