Forgery

Christopher Poplin, 32, of 407 Lehigh Ave., Palmerton, was cited for five counts of forgery. The incident occurred on Feb. 6 between 3 and 7:30 p.m. in the 100 to 600 blocks of Delaware Avenue.

Terroristic threats

Criminal charges were filed against Kathy Long, 41, of 576 Mauch Chunk Rd., Palmerton, for intimidation of witnesses or victims and terroristic threats. The incident occurred on Feb. 23 in the 400 block of Delaware Avenue.

Harassment

A Slatington driver was cited after a crash that occurred about 10 a.m. on Feb. 26, along SR100 at George Road, in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County.

State police at Fogelsville said Lynn Kovalchik was driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee southbound when she attempted to turn right onto George Road. Troopers said she was going too fast and her Jeep slid on the gravel as she made the turn. The Jeep slid across George Road where the front end struck an embankment causing major damage.

Kovalchik was not injured. She was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.

State police at Frackville are investigating the death of a Schuylkill County man.

Troopers said the body of Michael Sosna, 54, of 58 E. Mount Vernon St., Shenandoah, was found at his home about 2 p.m. on Sunday after emergency medical services were summoned to the home for a report of an unresponsive male.

Shenandoah police initially responded to the scene and then requested the assistance of state police. An autopsy will be scheduled by the county coroner's office. Assisting in the probe is the Schuylkill County District Attorney's office.

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks released their statistical report of activities for the month of February.

In the criminal division there were 124 offenses reported, 120 founded, 68 cleared and 59 arrests made. In the traffic division there were 46 crashes investigated, five hit and runs, 20 injured, 10 drunk driving arrests, five DUI-related crashes, no fatalities, 258 citations issued and four writtten warnings handed out.

There were 566 incidents for the month.

A Coaldale man faces burglary and related charges after allegedly stealing a parrot.

Jonathan Allen Butruch, 28, whose last known address is 274 Third Street, also faces charges of criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking.

Coaldale police have charged a Lansford man with two counts of driving under the influence (DUI), failing to keep within a single lane and speeding.

Robert James Stackhouse, 29, of 117 E. Patterson St., was charged after he was pulled over at 2:40 a.m. Jan. 30 on SR209.

A Coaldale man was arrested after allegedly threatening his 15-year-old son with a gun as the two argued over a computer.

Police were called to the home of Thomas Bowman, 47, of 304 Ridge Terrace, on a report of a man with a gun threatening his 15-year-old son. Upon arrival, Lansford police met Coaldale police Officer Jeremy Paul Talanca at the home. The 15-year-old had fled the home and a 5-year-old child stood in the doorway.

Talanca quickly pulled the child out of the house and placed him next door.

Bowman was arrested and placed in the rear of the police cruiser.

A Coaldale woman has been charged with drug law violations.

Alex Hannah, no age given, of 45 W. Phillips St., Apt. 205, was arrested Feb. 18. Coaldale Chief Tim Delaney said borough police and the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force arrested Hannah for selling Vicodin and marijuana to an undercover informant on two separate occasions in October.

A rear-end type crash involved two school buses of the Pocono Mountain School District. Pocono Mountain Regional police said the crash occurred about 4:13 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at the intersection of Salamanca and Hemlock drives in the Pocono Farms development.

An Allentown man was taken into custody by Tamaqua police early Tuesday morning after it was discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by sate police at the Fogelsville barracks.

Officers were on patrol at 12:58 a.m. on Mauch Chunk Street when they observed a male acting in a suspicious manner. Officers stopped to talk to the man, who identified himself as Matthew Mogan.
