A sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a bicycle collided in an accident in Lehigh Township, Northampton County. Township police said the accident occurred about 4:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, in the 4600 block of Maple Drive, Walnutport.

Police said Annette Lacko, of Walnutport, was driving an SUV when it was struck by a bicycle driven by a 12-year-old female. The girl was seriously injured and flown from the scene by Pennstar helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Lacko was not injured.

The investigation into the crash is continuing, police added.

State police at Fern Ridge are investigating the theft of a metal sewer grate.

The grate was taken from the parking lot of BK Plaza, located along SR209 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. The grate measures 27 by 48-inches. The listed owner of the grate is JDL Enterprises Inc., of Northampton.

The theft occurred sometime between Oct. 7-12, troopers said.

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a two vehicle crash about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, along Manheim Road in North Manheim Township, Schuylkill County.

Troopers said Edward A. Hallick, 80, of Orwigsburg, was attempting to make a left turn off the road and into the parking lot of Redner's Warehouse Market when he pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by Timothy P. Zabpel, 25, of Pottsville, who was westbound.

The passenger side front of Zaspel's 2000 Ford Focus SE struck the passenger side front of Hallick's 1998 Chevrolet Malibu.

A card game resulted in an altercation in which one person is facing charges.

State police at Fern Ridge said Jamie Brownie, 28, of White Haven, was at the home of Sharon McNichol, 46, of Lot 8, Springhill Mobile Home Park, White Haven, East Side Boro about 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, playing cards.

Troopers said the two began to argue and the argument escalated to a point when McNichol allegedly punched Brownie in the face.

Troopers said McNichol is facing assault and harassment charges.

Two would-be robbers were scared off in an attempted break-in at a Schuylkill County business early today. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at Barr's Interstate Service Station and Mini-mart, located at 418 Suedberg Road, in Pine Grove Township.

Troopers said the two criminals drove a vehicle into the steel/glass entry doors about 3:57 a.m. to gain entry. The two entered the store but were scared off by the security alarm. The two fled within two minutes of their entry, troopers said.

Damages were estimated at $2,000.

A driver involved in a one vehicle crash about 9:13 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, in Monroe County, has been cited.

State police at Lehighton said Eric J. Samson, 26, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2000 Kia Spectra southbound on Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township, and approaching Doney Road when he lost control. The car crashed into a tree at the intersection.

Samson was injured and taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance for treatment of what troopers said were moderate injuries.

Two Carbon County men are facing charges for causing damages to a Little League field.

State police at Lehighton said Robert Peter Clarkson, of 1815 Stagecoach Road West, Palmerton, and Chad Robert Mack, 3820 Foreset Inn Road, Aquashicola, were together at an area adjacent to Stagecoach Road and Towamensing Township Little League field in Towamensing Township, on Sept. 28 between midnight and 7:30 a.m.

A Lehigh County man was arrested early Thursday, Oct. 13, in Slatington.

Borough police were dispatched about 1:45 a.m. to 610 Main St. to a report of a intoxicated male yelling. As a result of an investigation Brandon William Nederostek, 26, of 4120 Bridge St., Whitehall, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said.

State police at Lehighton are investigating a burglary at a Carbon County home.

Troopers said the residence of Margerete Tindzak, 9175 Interchange Road, Lehighton, Towamensing Township, was entered through an unlocked mud room door located on the west side of the home. Once inside the criminals kicked in another door that let them inside the living room. While in the home the criminals went through every room opening draws. Removed was a knife set from the kitchen area.

A Tamaqua area burglary is being probed by state police at Frackville.

Troopers said the home of Roberto Picone, 35, of 1300 block of Shady Lane in Walker Township, was entered sometime between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Removed from the home were multiple pieces of jewelry.
