Guilty of DUI

Brad Elliot Scheeler, 33, Shenandoah, formerly of Barnesville, was found guilty by a jury of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, his third DUI conviction.

He was sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes to serve one to five years in a state correctional institution and received an additional 89 days in prison on a charge of driving while his license was suspended plus a $1,000 fine.

Memorial Day

The Veterans Bureau reported 37,000 American flags were distributed to various veterans organization to decorate the graves of veterans for the traditional Memorial Day observance. The bureau also reported since last Memorial Day 780 county veterans have died.

Revenue from deeds

Carbon County Recorder of Deeds Emmett P. McCall reported his office recorded 184 deeds, 202 mortgages and 377 other writs during the month of April.

As a result of those transactions, McCall turned over to the Carbon County General Fund the sum of $26,263.09. A breakdown of that revenue includes: transfer fees, $21,720.50; data processing fees, $1,973.78; notaries, $80; commission on transfers and writs, $1,572.01; and Affordable Housing administrative fee, $916.80.

Bail Fixed

Bail in amount of $5,000 percentage cash was fixed by Judge John E. Domalakes for Robert J. Macharsky, Jr., 37, of 201 East Bertsch Street, Lansford, and a bench warrant issued on him was dissolved. Marcharsky faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while his operating privileges were suspended by Patrolman Charles Blesse, Coaldale Police and charges of resisting arrest and giving false identification to Patrolman Brian Thompson, Rush Township Police.

Auto crash suit

Stephanie Brown, 2569 N. Hollywood St., Philadelphia, filed a civil complaint against Megan Green, Megan Turek-Green and Darnell C. Green, 170 Gower Rd., Albrightsville, over an automobile/pedestrian accident.

The suit states on June 14, 2009, the plaintiff was a pedestrian on a lot at Woodbrook at Lake Harmony when she was allegedly struck by a vehicle operated by Megan Green.

Negligence is alleged for injuries sustained a detailed in the suit. Sought are damages in excess of $50,000 on each of two counts.
