Laymen's Fellowship

The Laymen's Fellowship of St. Matthew's UCC will be holding its Annual Bazaar on Nov. 8 at the Kunkletown Firehouse.

They are in need of donations for the basket auction and raffle items and baked goods for the bake sale. Basket donations can be dropped off at the church during office hours, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The baked items should be dropped off at the firehouse Nov. 7 or early Saturday morning, Nov. 8. Coats and boots

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is holding a coat and boot drive for the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network, both new and gently used.

The church is accepting donations in all sizes, male and female, child to adult. Donations may be put on the marked table in McCawley Hall.

The West End Democratic Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company. This is open to the public.

Halloween parade

The Eldred Township Halloween Parade will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday. All preregistered participants must be in St. Matthew's UCC picnic grove between 11 a.m. and noon.

Relay for Life

American Cancer Society's West End Relay for Life Kick Off will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Pleasant Valley Middle School cafeteria, Route 115, Brodheadsville.

Library guest

Author Bill Lowenburg will be signing books at the Western Pocono Community Library today, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday the book discussion at the library will be "The Solace of Open Spaces" by Gretel Ehrlich. It will begin at 7 p.m.

The Eldred Township Historical Society will hold its basket bingo on Sunday. The doors will open at noon and bingo will begin at 1 p.m.

The Eldred Township Halloween Parade's registration deadline is this Sunday for the Oct. 19 parade. The rain date Oct. 26.

Western Pocono Lioness

The Western Pocono Lioness Club will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 28, beginning with a social hour with Lioness dressing in their best 1960s-themed outfits. The business meeting begins at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the American Legion in Gilbert.

The West End Rotary Club will host Dr. Angelo Ortenzi at its Thursday breakfast meeting. He will speak about Hershey and Pennsylvania.

Chestnut Ridge Seniors

The Chestnut Ridge Seniors will be meeting at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company. Bring a bag lunch. They will be playing bingo.

Exercising seniors

There is a low-impact exercise class for those over 55 from 9:30-10:30 a.m., every Tuesday and Thursday at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company.

Fantastic fashion show

The Western Pocono Lioness Club held its 18th annual Fashion Show Sunday, with the theme of celebrating the club's 35th birthday.

Lioness Carol Heppa said it was a wonderful afternoon and everyone had a great time. She said the fashions were beautiful and the models did a fantastic job, as did all the volunteers.

Legion meets

The American Legion Post 927 Home Association is slated to meet tonight at 7:30 at the Post Home in Gilbert.

The Legion itself will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

St. Matthew's

St. Matthew's UCC has extended Harvest Home to this Sunday at the 9 a.m. worship service. You can bring any food items, perishable and nonperishable, to the church during office hours, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays or 8-11:30 a.m. Sundays.

All items will be donated to Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network.

PVEN is in need of peanut butter, cereal, mac and cheese, soup, and cans of tuna fish.
