PV Elementary School PTO

PVE's PTO monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct 13, at 4 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Polk Twp. Volunteer Fire Company

PTVFC will be hosting a safety day in honor of fire prevention week. It will be held on Sunday, Oct 9, from noon-3 p.m. at the firehouse located on Rt. 209 just past the Kresgeville Post Office. The fire trucks will be out for display and there will be other activities for the kids.

According to the Mission Committee at Effort UMC, the supply of flood buckets is very low due to the recent flooding in the northern tier of Pennsylvania.

This Sunday, Oct. 2 at 9 a.m., the guest preacher at St. Matthew's UCC will be the Rev. Dr. Scott Brooks Cope, director of Pastoral Care-Phoebe Ministries.

Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church

Sunday, Oct 16 from 3-6:15 p.m. is Family Fun Day. Pocono Lutheran churches will host a Family Fun Day on Sunday, Oct. 18, from 3 to 6:15 p.m. The event is outdoors and will include games, supper and worship at St. Paul's picnic grove in Albrightsville, off Rte. 534. Bring food to share. Drinks and dinnerware will be provided.

PVEN statistics

During the quarterly hunger ministry meeting held at the Monroe County Administrative Center last week, the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network Community Service Center statistics led in new families served in this August and overall clients served for the previous program year. The PVEN provided help to over 720 clients from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.

St. Matthew's UCC

The Rev. H. Robert Samuels will be the guest preacher at St. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown on Sunday, Sept. 25 at the 9 a.m. worship service.

This Sunday is also observance of Harvest Home. Please bring any produce and nonperishable items to the church. The donations of these food items will be given to the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network for distribution to families in need in the West End.

Sunday School is now in session and begins at 10:30 a.m. All ages are welcome from 3 years old to adult.

PVI's 5th grade will be having a Meet Your Friends Night on Friday, Sept. 23 from 3:45-6 p.m. in the school gym.

Vote taken

Pride in Chestnuthill (PIC) voted on the annual Chestnuthill Township Beautification Award at its monthly meeting on Sept. 8. The award will be presented to the winner at the November Chestnuthill Supervisors' meeting.

PIC extends its thanks to all the businesses in the township that did an outstanding job, maintaining and beautifying their businesses with landscaping and flowers.

Chestnut Ridge Seniors

The Chestnut Ridge Seniors will meet on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. at the Kunkletown Vol. Fire Co. Bring a bag lunch to play Bingo.

Sunday School

Sunday School will begin this Sunday, Sept. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew's UCC in Kunkletown. They will begin the new Sunday School year with Rally Day. There will be classes for children of all ages including adults. Everyone is welcome.

Pleasant Valley Intermediate School

On Friday, Sept. 16 from 6:30-8 p.m. PVI PTO will be hosting a Family Bingo Night in the cafeteria. All PVI students and their families are welcome to attend.

On Monday, Sept. 19 at 1:15 p.m. there will be a PAC meeting in the library. This meeting is open to parents of PVI students to share their thoughts and ideas.

On Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 4:15 p.m., PVI PTO will meet in the all purpose room. Here is your opportunity to help make plans for the upcoming school year.
