PV alumni

The Panther Valley Alumni Association will be holding it annual "Meet and Greet" Reunion of all PV graduating classes immediately following the PV-Schuylkill Haven game on Friday, Oct. 1. Members eat and drink for free. Guests are welcome.

Donations are also being accepted at PVAA, P.O. Box 32, Nesquehoning, PA 18240. All proceeds go into a scholarship fund.

Summit Hill

Heritage Center

The Summit Hill Heritage Center, the former St. Paul United Church of Christ, Chestnut and Hazard streets, will hold an open house program on Saturday, Oct. 2.

Slatington Public Library

Local historian and writer Mr. William Leickel has produced a book entitled "Business's along the Boulevard." Leickel has researched different topics involving the history of the Northern Lehigh area, some of which were the local movie theaters and the railway systems.

Miller Bloodmobile

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct a bloodmobile at the First United Church of Christ's Fellowship Hall (next to Palmerton Borough Hall) on Thursday, Oct. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This visit is sponsored by the Palmerton Concourse Club. Off-street parking will be available at Penn Northeast (both sides of the building), and at the former Golden Key parking lot, by permission of the owners.

LIFE meets

Lehighton Interfaith Fellowship will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and Iron streets.

LALLC board meeting

The Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Gothard Realty Office located on Interchange Road in Lehighton.

The Breakfast with Santa committee will meet at 6 p.m. before the regular meeting.

Crop Walk planned

LIFE is sponsoring a local Crop Walk for hunger on Sunday, Oct. 10. Registration is at 1 p.m. and the walk starts at 2 p.m.

Sorority news

The Preceptor Alpha Upsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority met Sept. 22 at the home of Patti Confer. Members constructed hoagies and received copies of recipes from the Beginning Day recipe exchange program.

A discussion was held concerning a clothing drive for spring and the October fundraiser.

Patti Confer provided a program on proper ways to set a table for casual, informal and formal occasions.

The monthly meeting of the Lehighton Memorial Post 256, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at the Post Home, South Street.

Summit Hill

Historical society

The Summit Hill Historical Society is looking for loans/donations of historical items that can be used for displays in the windows at the museum. Among the suggested items are things about town history, art, and sports related or holiday themed artifacts.

Lioness meet

The Western Pocono Lioness Club will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 28, at the American Legion in Gilbert. The program will be given by "Life Is Good Chiropractic."

The club held its annual fashion show at Hideaway Hills in Kresgeville Sunday, and all tickets were sold.

Monroe seniors

Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville hosts the Monroe County Seniors on Wednesdays and Fridays. The group meets at 9 a.m.

GriefShare

A new GriefShare group is forming at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, scheduled to begin weekly meetings on Oct. 6. GriefShare is a ministry to anyone grieving the loss of a loved one. The Biblically based, non-denominational sessions will be held Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. for a 13-week time period.

Bethany EC is located at 223 E. Broad St.
