Vacation Bible School

Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church SSP will hold its VBS from June 27 until July 1, Sunday after worship and Monday through Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Ages are 4 years of age through the sixth grade. There will also be an adult class.

LALLC meetings

The Lehighton Area Lioness Lions Club Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 24 at the Gothard Realty office located on Interchange Road in Lehighton.

The regular meeting for July will be a covered dish held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at the home of Gail Maholick, 576 Main Rd., Lehighton. For directions, call Gail at (610) 377-5559.

Calvary Evangelical United Methodist

Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church, Catawissa and Valley roads, Lewistown Valley, will hold morning worship for everyone on 10:25 a.m. on "Father's Day" Sunday, June 20. The Rev. Brian Reading will deliver a message titled "Thanks for Being My Father."

Sunday school for everyone will be held at 9:15 a.m. Nursery service is available as needed.

Evening Praise and Bible Study will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Prayer and Share will be held on Wednesday, June 23, for all ages.

First Congregational Church

Morning Worship in celebration of Father's Day will be held at First Congregational Church at 9 a.m. Sunday, June 20

Vacation Bible School begins Monday, June 21, and continues through Friday, June, 25, from 6-8 p.m. daily. Activities will include: opening exercise, lessons, snacks, song practice and crafts.

The theme for the week is "Heroes."

The closing service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 25, following the school session from 6-7 p.m.

Summit Hill

Presbyterian church

Beginning on Sunday, June 20, the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, will be on a summer schedule.

The weekly Sunday morning service will be held at 9:30 a.m. This will continue until Sept. 12, when the worship service will return to normal times. During the summer, there will be no junior choir, Sunday school or adult Bible class.

VBS is planned

The community Vacation Bible School will be held Monday through Friday, July 26-30, at the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill.

Commencement exercises for the Northern Lehigh High School Class of 2010 will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Bulldog Stadium.

Coaldale is forming a flag committee to take responsibility for the borough's American flag displays.

A meeting for anyone interested in joining is scheduled for 7 p.m., June 21 at the American Legion Post 170.

The meeting is open to all Coaldale-based nonprofit organizations.

Officers will be elected, and the group plans to discuss fundraising and how the town will display its flags for veterans' and summer holidays.

Refreshments will be served.

Black Diamond Writers

Michael B. Kaminski, publisher of WOMAN Magazine, will be the featured speaker at a joint meeting of the Black Diamond Writers' Network and the Pa. Women's Press Association on Saturday, June 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Tamaqua Public Library, 30. S. Railroad Street.

Kaminski will educate writers on how to write for a publication with a purpose, focusing on the creation, mission and purpose of his magazine. He will explain what he looks for in potential writers and what makes a good and a bad pitch.
