Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mase

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mase recently celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They were married July 2, 1960 at Immaculate Conception Church in Jim Thorpe.

Mrs. Mase is the former Anne Marie McHugh.

The couple have four children: Sally, wife of Wayne Smith; Ava, wife of John Bretzik; and Pamela Formica, all of Jim Thorpe; and Thomas Mase, and his wife Pamela of Palmyra.

They have six grandchildren: Bridget, wife of Eric Johnston; John Paul Bretzik; Heather Formica; David Formica (who passed away July 21, 2006); Cole Mase and Kendra Mase.

The Tamaqua High School Class of 1970 will hold a reunion in celebration of its 40th anniversary on Sept. 11, from 6-11 p.m., at the Tamaqua Elks. The evening will include a buffet, cash bar and music. Dress will be informal.

The Panther Valley High School Class of 1965 will hold its 45-year reunion on Aug. 7 at the Nesquehoning picnic grounds, beginning at noon.

The 83rd Wanamaker-Snyder reunion will be held Sunday, July 25 at Victory Park in Slatington starting at 10 a.m. until dark, rain or shine. No need to reserve.

Bring your picnic food and something for the cakewalk. There will also be games and prizes. Restrooms will be available.

Mr. and Mrs. William R. Yost

Mr. and Mrs. William R. Yost are celebrating their golden wedding anniversary. They were married on July 16, 1960 by the Rev. Paul B. Kendall and the Rev. Hubert Kidd at St. John's U.C.C. Church in Tamaqua.

Mrs. Yost is the former Beverly K. Bradbury, daughter of Margaret Bradbury of Mahanoy City, and the late Joseph Bradbury.

Mr. Yost is the son of the late William and Alma Yost, formerly of Tamaqua.

Beatrice Burbes

Beatrice Burbes, a resident of the Hometown Nursing Home and formerly of Lehighton, will celebrate her 98th birthday on July 17.

She is the widow of Lewis Burbes, who passed away in 1979. She is the mother of two sons: Bruce Fritzinger, who resides in Lehighton with his wife Charlotte; and Elmer Fritzinger, who passed away nine years ago.

Beatrice enjoys cooking and shopping and is still very active.

The 82nd annual Smith Family Reunion will be held Sunday, July 25 at St. Matthew's U.C.C. church grove, under the direction of president, the Rev. Sterling A. Schnell, Reading.

Registration is at 12:30 p.m., and the meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. Entertainment will be the Toad Creek Duo by Keith and Karline Brintzenhoff, Topton. There will be a memorial service with dove release; games for children; Lehighton Band concerts; an old-fashioned cake walk; silent auction; and election of officers for the new year.

Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Goldberg

Audrey and LeRoy Goldberg of Lehighton recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

They were married June 18, 1960 at S.S. Peter and Paul Church, Lehighton, by the late Rev. George Fenzil.

Mrs. Goldberg is the daughter of the late Wilmer and Mary Swartz of Lehighton. Mr. Goldberg is the son of the late Howard and Dorothy Goldberg of Lehighton.

They have five children: Cynthia, wife of Scott Ritter; Mary Beth Goldberg; Peggy, wife of Steve Mooney; Donna, wife of Wayne Andrews; and Greg Goldberg and his partner Angie Parsons; all of Lehighton.

Mr. and Mrs. Eric Snyder

Joy Schatz of Kresgeville, daughter of Robert and Ruth Phillips of Neffs, became the bride of Eric Snyder of Kresgeville, son of Fred and Kathy Snyder of Gilbert, on May 15, 2010, at Longboat Key, Fla. Kenneth Merritt officiated the single ring ceremony. Mellow Vibes played the steel drums.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride chose Kayla Schatz as the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Karyssa Schatz and Teresa Ticson.

The groom chose Fred Snyder as the best man. Ushers were Robert Phillips and Ethan Snyder.
