Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kruczek

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kruczek of Summit Hill will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday.

They were married on Oct. 28, 1961 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, by the late Rev. Msgr. J. Francis Haley.

Mrs. Kruczek is the former Anna Marie Cusanelli, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Cusanelli. Mr. Kruczek is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Kruczek.

The couple has two children, Edward, and his wife, Pam, of Coopersburg, and Deborah, wife of Robert Rohlfing of Summit Hill.

The engagement of Marie Jamie Geiger, Palmerton, to Cody Grant Fluke, New Ringgold, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Steven and Laurel Geiger of Palmerton. She is a 2003 graduate of Palmerton Area High School and a 2009 graduate of Marywood University where she earned a master of science in physician assistant studies.

She is employed at Northwestern Medical Center in New Tripoli.

Richard Jasinski Jr. and Stacie Surotchak

The engagement of Stacie Surotchak to Richard Jasinski Jr., both of Hopatcong, N.J., has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Bruce and Anna Mae Surotchak of Tamaqua. She graduated from Tamaqua Area High School in 2004.

In 2008 she graduated from Marywood University with a bachelor of science degree in communication sciences and disorders. She received a master of science degree in 2010.

She is employed as a speech-language pathologist at a nursing home in Hackettstown, N.J.

Helen Cheslock

Helen (Zankofski) Cheslock, a resident at Heritage Hill Senior Community in Weatherly, will be celebrating her 93rd birthday on Saturday.

Born in Hazleton in Oct. 29, 1918, Helen was married to her husband Richard for 35 years, until his passing in 1976.

Helen and her husband had two children: Richard Cheslock, who resides in Virginia, and Francella Hamecs, who resides in New Jersey.

Helen has three grandchildren, Lynn, Bryan, and Daniel; and two great-grandsons, Eric and George.

Mrs. Anna Mary Ogozalek is celebrating her 100th birthday this week. Helping her to observe the day are her son Leonard and daughter, Virginia Zabo.

Family and friends of Anna Mary Ogozalek, a resident of Summit Hill who is a guest at the Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mahoning Township, gathered on Sunday, Oct. 23, to celebrate her 100th birthday which will be held on Wednesday of this week.

Close to 50 persons were on hand for the special celebration, during which time the honoree received proclamations from state Rep. Doyle Heffley and William J. O'Gurek, chairman of the Carbon County Board of Commissioners.

Edward and Dorothy Rummel of Tamaqua recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They were married on Oct. 21, 1949.

Mr. Rummel was born and raised in Tamaqua. Mrs. Rummel is originally from Barnesville.

Mr. Rummel worked in the newspaper trade for 46 years, with 10 years at the Tamaqua Courier, six years at the Mahanoy City Record American, and 30 years at the Reading Eagle-Times in Reading.

Mrs. Rummel worked for several years at Sprite Manufacturing in Tamaqua.

A daughter, Alexis Cathleen Chlebowski, was born at 6:22 p.m. on Aug. 21, 2011 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, to Rachel and Daniel Chlebowski of Easton.

She weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 19 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Katheryn Labosky and the late James Labosky, Lansford.

Paternal grandparents are Stanley and Regina Chlebowski, Nazareth.

Maternal great-grandmother is Matilda Labosky, Lansford.

Faith Nevaeh Kunkel

A daughter, Faith Nevaeh Kunkel, was born at 11:27 p.m. on Sept. 3, 2011 at Schuylkill Medical Center, Pottsville, to Marisa and Brent M. Kunkel of Tamaqua.

She weighed 6 pounds, 6.5 ounces and measured 18 inches long.

The new baby was welcomed home by her older siblings, Levi, 4, and Kiely, 2.

Maternal grandparents are Stephen and Shelly McGregor of Coaldale.

Paternal grandparents are Clair and Jo Kunkel of Lansford.
