No Schuylkill County races

Schuylkill County voters have no county races to pick from on Tuesday.

There are only two countywide offices up for election this fall and there are no contests for nominations in the primary.The offices of district attorney and sheriff are the lone ones up for election.Incumbent sheriff Democrat Joseph G. Groody is in the best position as he is unopposed by anyone in his party for another four-year term and no Republicans have filed for the position.On the other side the office of DA will have a race in the fall.Incumbent Republican Christine A. Holman is seeking a second term and is unopposed for her party nomination. She will face Democrat Attorney Michael A. O'Pake in the fall as he is unopposed for his party's nomination.Four district judges are up for election. All four are incumbents and are unopposed and have crossed-filed, making it almost a certainty of them securing another six-year term.They are Stephen J. Bayer, covering the Tamaqua area; Christina E. Hale, Frackville area; James R. Ferrier, Orwigsburg-West Penn Township area; and Jimmy Reiley, most of Pottsville.County voters will have a choice for candidates seeking nominations for their party for seats on the state Commonwealth and Superior courts.
