Two facing DUI charges after McAdoo incidents

McAdoo police arrested two people for driving under the influence of alcohol earlier this year.

Raymond Papaj Jr., 40, of Hazleton, was charged as a result of a one-vehicle crash shortly after midnight Oct. 15 on North Kennedy Street.Police said upon arrival they found a Chevrolet vehicle flipped onto its driver's side and Papaj standing inside the vehicle, exhibiting head and facial wounds. Police said they were assisted by firemen in assisting the man out of the vehicle, after which time he was transport to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.Daniel Gardner Jr., 38, of McAdoo, was charged as a result of an incident at 11:58 p.m. Sept. 3.Borough police said they responded to a domestic disturbance at that time and were told Gardner had left the scene of an alleged assault prior to their arrival.Police later observed him driving a SUV north on South Sheridan Street, where he parked the vehicle.Police approached the man and detected an odor of alcohol. Gardner later failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the hospital where he submitted to a blood-alcohol test.
