Lehighton should reconsider snow parking details

Dear Editor,

As a Palmerton resident of over 40 years and a former member of borough council, I have long been a "cheerleader" for our odd/even snow plowing program and how well it works. I have therefore been interested in following the program Lehighton is considering.Palmerton's program includes a convenient time of 7 to 8 p.m. to move cars from one side of the street to the opposite side. For snowplowing purposes, at 7 p.m. the date becomes the next day's date for odd/even parking. That means that for one hour a day, our plows are not plowing residential streets. If Lehighton determines the hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the period of time for drivers to move from one side of the street to the opposite side, Lehighton will limit itself by having 9 hours a day of not being able to plow residential streets and will have to wait until after 4 p.m. to ticket a car that has not been moved and being unable to plow that block until after 4 p.m.I would urge Lehighton Council to reconsider that part of their program.Sincerely,Louise CalvinPalmerton
