Weatherly police report incidents

Weatherly police reported on the following incidents:

On June 14 a vehicle stop was made of Mark Soltis, 51, of Freeland, for a traffic violation. Soltis was found to have crystal meth in his possession. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.On June 26 police were called for a male and female shoplifting at the Dollar General Store.As a result of an investigation Kori Errichetto, 22, and Jocelyn Tiglio, 20, both of Weatherly, were found taking items from the store. Both were charged.Also on June 26 Brooke Dunn, 36, of Wilkes-Barre, was cited for trespassing after she kept driving through a private drive that was posted no trespassing.On June 30 police were alerted that a Daniel Brogan, of McAdoo, was at the Weatherly Pharmacy and was attempting to pass a forged prescription for oxycodone.Police took Brogan into custody and found he had been passing bad prescriptions in several other communities in Luzerne, Columbia and Carbon counties. He was lodged in the Luzerne County prison in Wilkes-Barre.JulyOn July 15 police responded to Louise Street for a burglary. The homeowner reported someone entered his garage and removed several thousand of dollars worth of tools and other items.On July 16 police were called to the 900 block of North Street for a vehicle break-in. The victim witnessed a male enter his vehicle then take off running down North Street toward Hill Street.A small amount of money was removed in the incident.On July 17 police received a burglary report from the 300 block of Third Street.The victim said someone broke into his garage and removed a mountain bike valued at over $1,000. The bike was recovered several days later and returned to the owner, police said.On July 19 police were dispatched to the 500 block of East Main Street, for an attempted vehicle break-in.The owner stated that he heard his car alarm going off and after checking the area, he could see footprints next to his vehicle. Nothing was reported taken.Also on July 19 police were called to the 500 block of E. Main Street for vehicle entered. Someone rummaged through the vehicle after making forced entry and removed $280 in cash.On July 21 police were called to the 300 block of Fourth St., for a case of harassment. The victim said he was harassed by a Thomas Figas. Figas was cited for harassment on information received, police said.Also on July 21 police found an open door on a residence along Spring Street. After checking the residence and securing it, officers observed three individuals walking around the area all drinking beer from glass bottles.After observing several empty beer bottles laying in the area the three were approached. As a result Antoinette Sudziarski, 27, of Freeland, was cited for littering.Drug arrestsOn July 24 while on patrol police attempted to stop a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed with no lights on.The vehicle failed to stop and sped away with speeds reaching 90 mph.At the same time officers received a 911 dispatch for a suspicious male in the area of Hudsondale Street.Upon investigation Joseph Bodnar, 33, no known address, was charged with several crimes including fleeing and eluding police while under influence. He admitted being under the influence of heroin.On July 26 while on foot patrol police witnessed a drug transaction along Fern Alley. Police ordered Salvatore Azzaro, 21, of Weatherly to stop. He started to walk away at a fast pace and was told again to stop. At this point Azzaro was observed throwing two small bags away that he had removed from his pockets.Azzaro refused to comply with verbal commands and resisted arrest. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Carbon County prison.While on patrol police observed two juveniles, one on an all-terrain vehicle and the other a dirt bike, in the parking lot of Eurana Park.While gathering information the officer observed one juvenile try to conceal a small container by throwing it into a car window. The container was recovered and found to have marijuana in it. The juvenile was cited.Needles foundOn July 27 to Aug. 1 police were called to Eurana Park and the area of 900 North St. for several used hypodermic needles lying on the roadways. Police ask all residents to stay vigilant while out with small children or animals and to call 911 if they see any needles.On Monday police arrested Jonathan Gomez, 19, of Weatherly, for disorderly conduct for an incident at his residence. Police said it was drug-related.
