Boyer's Food Markets earns national award

Boyer's Food Markets, an independent grocer with 17 locations throughout northeastern Pennsylvania, was recently awarded the top national marketing honor in its category, based on size and sales volume, during Supervalu's national sales show in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

"We're excited to earn the Master Marketer award from Supervalu," said Dean Walker, president of Boyer's Food Markets. "It speaks well of our entire Boyer's team and our efforts to communicate the benefits of shopping at Boyer's to consumers."Supervalu Inc. is one of the largest grocery wholesalers and retailers in the U.S. with annual sales of approximately $17 billion. Supervalu Inc. serves customers across the United States through a network of 3,320 stores composed of 1,805 independent stores."To be selected for top honors in our category from such a large group of excellent grocery stores throughout the country is not something you expect, but it's definitely rewarding," said Anthony Gigliotti, vice president of sales and marketing at Boyer's Food Markets. "This recognition is particularly satisfying because it takes into account our comprehensive marketing efforts around our Shop Fast, Save Money message so it includes our in-store signage and promotions, our website, as well as things like our weekly circulars and TV ads."Founded in 1949, Boyer's Food Markets has continued to grow in spite of facing challenges from larger grocery chains and superstores. The store has locations in Lansford and Tamaqua.
