One of Carbon County's worst air disasters took the lives of five men this week. Their bodies were removed from the wreckage of their small plane today.

The Piper Aztec took off from the Avoca Airport three days ago and crashed during heavy fog, in a wooded section of Lower Towamensing Township, near the top of the Blue Mountain, along the Appalachian Trail. Richard Bonser of Palmerton saw a flash in the sky when the plane crashed and called police. The victims were all from the Philadelphia area.
