Thefts, mischief incident probed

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a theft from vehicle incident, a possible phone scam theft, and an act of criminal mischief.

The theft from vehicle incident occurred at 258 Stoney Mountain Rd., in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said unknown criminals removed two gas cans, an Ingersol Rand air compressor, six road signs, a harness, and two rope crankers from a 2007 International 4300 bucket truck that was parked on a lot at the above state location. The truck is owned by PennLine, of Scottdale, Westmoreland County. The theft occurred sometime between Feb. 14 and 19.Troopers are investigating an incident involving Shannon L. Thornton, 31, of Saylorsburg, Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said she is the possible victim of a phone scam and lost $420. The incident was reported on Feb. 19 at 4 p.m.Troopers said unknown criminals cut the lock securing a cover over a set of two receptables at the Pleasant Valley West mailbox cluster, along Drakes Creek Rd., in Penn Forest Township.After cutting the lock they then unfastened the receptacles and let them hang open. The incident occurred sometime between Feb. 16-18.
