Franklin Fire Co. car show has 115 vehicles entered

A total of 115 cars were displayed during the annual Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co. annual car show. The event was held Sunday at fire company grounds.

As visitors walked the show, the owners sat behind their cars, answering questions and giving general information about their vehicles.Of those 115 cars, 30 were selected as prize winners by the show participants.Among the winners was a black and chrome 1969 Olds 442, driven in by Joe Curan of Lehighton."I've been driving this car for 20 years on Father's Day," said Curran. "Joe Barachie and I took four years to restore it. The guy I bought it from had plans to restore it, but wanted to buy a house instead."Now Curran has six cars in his four car garage.Recently he and his son started restoring a 1975 Olds for his son.Curran said that he and his family go to eight to 10 car shows a year."This is the 27th year we're showing cars," he said. "We started out in a 1948 Plymouth Coupe which we used to take to all the shows as a family," he said.
