HeadStart students given fire prevention program

Coaldale Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 invited children who attend PathStone HeadStart in the borough to a fire prevention program on Monday. The tykes enthusiastically participated, learning what to do if they see smoke or fire or hear the fire alarm, when they should call 911, and that although firefighters in full turnout gear may look and sound scary, they are there to help.

The program was just one given during Fire Prevention Month.

CHRIS PARKER/TIMES NEWS PathStone HeadStart teacher Angela Krapf, holding Nathan Rolon, encourages him to shake hands with firefighter Jonathan Oakes, who looks a little scary in full gear.
